Michael Maze has several times created history for Danish table tennis. In September 2009, he won silver in team play together with Finn Tugwell at the European Championship in Stuttgart and later on - after 16 triumphs/victories - he won gold in single. 

It is also a part of the Danish table tennis history that he together with his double partner, Finn Tugwell, won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2005. To this he can add that he was the first Dane ever who won a bronze medal at the World Championship in 2005. Eurosport considered the bronze match as one of the most sensational comebacks in the table tennis history.
