CASTROL AND PETER SCHMEICHEL GIVE GOALKEEPERS A HELPING HAND FOR PENALTY SHOOT-OUTS
NEW CASTROL EDGE PENALTY ANAYLSIS LAUNCHED AHEAD OF THE 2010 FIFA WORLDCUPTM KNOCKOUT STAGES
The 25th of June 2010 goalkeeping legend and Castrol ambassador, Peter Schmeichel, launched the Castrol EDGE Penalty Analysis initiative - a new and unique online system that can give goalkeepers the upper hand when it comes to a penalty shoot-out.
For many teams, the knockout stages of the FIFA World CupTM signals the daunting prospect of a nail-biting penalty shoot-out. While most managers will make the necessary preparation to prime their strikers for football's ultimate head-to-head battle, it is the goalkeeper that often has the team's destiny in his hands.
Peter Schmeichel: "During a big tournament, it is the small details that make big differences. Knowing where a team will usually place a penalty can be the difference between winning or losing. By using Castrol EDGE Penalty Analysis, goalkeepers can arm themselves to give them the edge over their opponents."
Thanks to Castrol, Official Sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World CupTM, penalty-takers in South Africa will now have to think twice about where they place their spot-kick. Castrol's team of Performance Analysts have studied every penalty taken in Europe's top five leagues and the UEFA Champions League over the last four years plus a number of international matches to create the Castrol EDGE Penalty Analysis initiative. Engineered to demonstrate the winning formula of its Castrol EDGE range of high performance oils, football fans and goalkeepers from the final 16 competing nations at this summer's FIFA World CupTM can use the Castrol EDGE Penalty Analysis to research their rival's penalty takers and goalkeeper's success rate, find out where they place their spot-kicks and get tips on how to perform under pressure.
